One-2-Ones give artists the opportunity to learn from industry professionals.

ArtsLink NB is proud to host One-2-One sessions with industry professionals. Each event will center voices from different areas of the provincial arts ecosystem. We invite members to join and listen as each guest gives a webinar on their topic, and register ahead of time to meet for a one-on-one opportunity to ask questions and receive personalized feedback.

Applications for One-2-Ones open approximately three weeks before the session is scheduled. Find more information for each session and the links to apply below.

Grant Writing 201 with Kathleen Buckley

Credentialed Grant Professional Kathleen Buckley will go beyond grant writing basics, discussing how to secure multiple grants for the same project, how to connect your work to larger conversations, and how to write about processes like experimentation and research in your proposal.

This hour-long lunchtime webinar will be an expansion on the previous One-2-One led by Kathleen, answering more in-depth questions about the grant writing process. This will be followed by optional one-on-one sessions with Kathleen, in which participants can discuss particular aspects of their application experiences and get targeted feedback.

Kathleen (Katie) Buckley is a credentialed grant professional based in Saint John, New Brunswick and Toronto, Ontario. Since 2022, Katie has secured over $4M in funding for non-profit organizations across Canada. Her specialization is developing funding strategies and writing grant proposals for arts & culture programs and social impact initiatives.

Writing About Your Work with Jericho Knopp

Writer & arts administrator Jericho Knopp covered best practices and lent advice on writing an artist statement, biography, and CV.

Jericho Knopp is a writer and arts administrator based in Menahqesk (Saint John), New Brunswick, who works as the Programming Director for ArtsLink NB. Her creative practice explores narratives surrounding beauty, memory, and mental illness, and is primarily non-fiction based, but she also dabbles in poetry and prose. Her journalism has appeared in the CBC, Created Here, Visual Arts News, the Telegraph Journal, and the Georgia Straight. Her narrative non-fiction has received support from artsnb and Third Shift festival, and her fiction has appeared in the Flourish Fest zine, and It’s Burning Off.

Alex Weaver Crawford is a creative, entrepreneur, and marketing consultant who builds brands and connects them with the people they’re meant for. This webinar style session explored how to connect your work with the people who value it the most. Through the lens of personal branding, she led members through finding how their brand already exists and how to bring it forward by finding an audience.

Meet with Canada Council Program Officers

The Canada Council for the Arts is one of the most important arts funders in the country. Members were given the opportunity to meet with either Amanda Lowe Warnakulasuriya (Program Officer – Arts Across Canada and Abroad) or Matthew Tiffin (Program Officer – Explore and Create) for personalized one-on-one meetings to ask questions and ask for advice.

Professional grant writer Kathleen Buckley met one-on-one with members to answer questions about how to write a great grant proposal. Kathleen (Katie) Buckley is an arts administrator and writer from Saint John, New Brunswick. During the One 2 One sessions, Kathleen answered questions, helped edit drafts, and gave members feedback on how to write a strong grant proposal.

It’s important to be able to speak to people about your work, and even more importantly, to speak to groups of people about your work, confidently and authoritatively.

Erica Waddell of Post Road Marketing covered specific questions about social media, including how to develop a plan that works for the artist and feels true to who they are as a person and a professional. She helped members improve their social media engagement, but keep it authentic.
