The Studio Workspace Residency is a four- to six-week opportunity for artists to create new work and fully immerse themselves in WSW’s supportive environment. We invite applications from artists at any stage of their careers. This residency gives artists a gift of time, an uninterrupted period to live and work away from the stresses of daily life. Artists may choose to work in any one or more of our studios: intaglio, letterpress, papermaking, screenprinting, photography, or ceramics.

While the workspace residencies are highly subsidized (the actual cost is $5,000/month), awardees pay $200/week in exchange for on-campus housing and 24/7 studio access. Additionally, artists receive a thorough studio orientation. Artists are expected to work independently, although studio staff is always available to provide assistance. Deep technical assistance can be arranged for an additional fee. Artists are required to provide their own expendable materials, though WSW maintains an extensive inventory of supplies and materials that artists may purchase while in residence.

An outside jury chooses the residency recipients.
