Maker Maker: Pocket-sized Cyanotype Printing

February 28, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join us for our next MAKER MAKER workshop as we transform our second floor gallery into a temporary photo studio with artists Karen Stentaford and Melissa Marr.

Try your hand at cyanotype, a historical photo process that results in beautiful blue-hued prints. Compose, expose and develop your own miniature cyanotype print to take home and work with existing cyanotype prints to make small-scale collaged artworks.

Karen Stentaford is a photographer whose practice is heavily embedded in alternative processes and early photographic techniques. She is Part-time Lecturer and Photography Technician in the Fine Arts Department at Mount Allison University. Melissa Marr is an interdisciplinary artist, educator and co-founder of Wonder’neath Open Studio in Halifax, NS. Karen and Melissa are long-time supporters of each other’s work and have also worked collaboratively.

MAKER MAKER is a monthly program of seriously small after-hours art workshops. Led by diverse Maker Mentors, each workshop introduces a pocket-sized art project that can be made in two hours or less. Designed for accomplished and aspiring makers alike, MAKER MAKER is for anyone interested in making small things by hand with friends and fellow makers. This informal workshop series explores how working small can be practical, portable and playful, economical, sharable and even wearable.

MAKER MAKER is free and all materials are provided, no registration required.
