Description

Carleton North High School is a cultural hub in Florenceville-Bristol hosting many community sporting and arts events, including being home to the 39-year-old Carleton Victoria Arts Council and the Weldon Matthews Theatre.

The commissioned artwork will be installed in the library, on the second floor of the building. Recent renovations to the library have resulted in fewer stacks, banks of computers and comfortable seating, creating an environment designed for collaboration and knowledge co-construction.  The commissioned art work should reflect the concepts of learning, community, and diversity.

The selected location for the art is an existing floor-to-ceiling “frame” structure, with an 8’ x 10’ x 2’ opening that is parallel to a plate glass curtain wall over-looking the main approach to the building. Lit at night, the art will be visible from the exterior as well as the interior of the building.
